Stars of the Night:
AAA – Josh Thole (2-for-4, 2B, 2 RBI)
AA – Eddie Kunz (3.1 IP, 1 H, 3 BB, 2 K’s in relief)
HiA – Off
LoA – Taylor Whitenton (4 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 3 BB, 6 K’s in relief)

AAA – Buffalo Bisons

Pat Misch got into trouble today thanks to a lot of long at bats. He only walked 3 and gave up 7 hits, but managed to throw 115 pitches in just 5 innings. Batters were fouling pitches left and right causing his 70 strikes thrown to just 45 balls. No matter how you look at it he still had a poor day at the office, but not as Jose De La Torre. De La Torre, who has actually been very effective this year, get bombarded for 4 runs on 6 hits in just 1.1 innings. It is interesting to note the last 5 batters of the game were retired via the K.

Two Bisons returned from injuries tonight and had successful comebacks. Fernando Martinez got placed right back in the five hole and delivered with a double in the 7th inning to put to men in scoring position. Josh Thole who was coming back from a concussion didn’t miss a beat driving in both Martinez and Mike Cervenak with a 2-RBI double. The only hit the Bisons had with men in scoring position.

AA – Binghamton Mets

A whole lotta bad news from this game.  First Eric Niesen was pulled after just 1.1 innings.  He was pitching pretty poorly and struggling with his command, but there was no way he got pulled for a high pitch count so I would have to think he got pulled because of an injury.  Then Reese Havens got pinch hit for in the 3rd inning by Jon Malo and you know that was not for skill reasons.  I still haven’t heard why the two of them were pulled yet, but we should definitely know by the a.m.  The only positive from this game might have been Eddie Kunz‘s widely effective performance out of the pen for the BMets.

St. Lucie Mets

Off

Savannah Sand Gnats

I think it is safe to assume this is the worst outing of Collin McHugh‘s career.  As good as he has been all year he couldn’t have been much worse today.  He got the two first outs of the inning and everything was looking normal and then a single, double, single, single, wild pitch, double, walk, single, and home run all in a row resulted in 8 runs and increased his ERA by 1.27.  Lance Hodge and Taylor Whitenton deserve props for pitching a combined 7 innings of relief and giving up just 3 runs.
