AAA – Jesus Feliciano (5-for-5, 2 2B, 1 R)
AA – Nick Evans (3-for-5, 2 HR’s, 3 RBI’s, 3 R)
HiA – Josh Satin (2-for-3, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 R, 1 BB)
LoA – Cesar Puello (1-for-3, 2 SB’s)
AAA – Buffalo Bisons
Dylan Owen had his first rough outing in AAA today giving up 4 runs on 6 hits. His peripherals actually still look really good as he has struck out a batter per inning during his stint in AAA and only walked 4 batters so far. Today he was victimized by the longball, which will probably be in the only thing holding him back from being able to start in the big leagues and force him into a relief role.
Not that the Mets have any brains in their organization, but Jesus Feliciano went 5 for 5 today with 2 doubles and is now hitting over .400 on the season. But Gary Matthews Jr. had a walk today so that should be enough to keep him around for another month. Daniel Murphy had a big day driving in four runs.
AA – Binghamton Mets
Josh Stinson had to pick up the spot start today and did pretty well giving up just 2 hits and 2 walks while pitching into the fifth inning. Stinson has been a starter in the past, but has been used exclusively out of the bullpen over the last two years so it was nice to see he can still be a long reliever if needed.
Nick Evans teed off on Akron pitching today driving in the go ahead run in the 5th with a solo home run and adding on in the 7th inning with a two-run home run that would account for the winning runs. Reese Havens joined in the power game belting his first home run of the year. The 3-4-5 hitters combined to go 8-for-11 with 3 home runs, 4 RBI’s, and 4 runs on the day.
HiA – St. Lucie Mets
After hitting just 8 home runs all of last year 2nd baseman Josh Satin is already up to 5 on the season after a solo shot in the 4th. Although he is old for the Florida State League he is demonstrating good power in such a hitters league. When I saw him he had really good gap power, but also a lot of room to fill out and it looks like the added muscle is turning some of those doubles into homers. Joey August saw his 9-game hit streak come to an end after an o-for-3 performance.
Wesley Wrenn was able to settle down after early trouble, but had to leave early after throwing so many pitches to get through the 2nd inning. The Mets, however, received some great bullpen work and were able to put up zeroes and give the offense the chance to come back in the late innings.
LoA – Savannah Sand Gnats

The Gnats had no problem holding the lead from yesterday’s suspended game, but things didn’t go so smoothly in game #2. Darin Gorski was roughed up for 5 runs and John Church had his first bad outing of the year raising his ERA all the way up to 1.76! Wilmer Flores got on base twice to help get out of a mini slump as he is batting .150 over his last 10 games and drove in a run in the process on a first inning single to score Pedro Zapata. Jefry Marte and Cesar Puello also had good games as Marte went deep and Puello swiped two more bags.

AAA – Jesus Feliciano (3-5, 2 R, 3B, RBI)
AA – Luis Hernandez (2-4, 3B)
HiA – Daniel Murphy (5-5, 2B, 3 RBI)
LoA – John Church (4 IP, 1 H, 3 K)
AAA – Buffalo Bisons
The Bisons were spraying hits all over the place as the only starter without a hit was Mike Jacobs (and that includes the starting pitcher who had a single). Jesus Feliciano now has a 12 game hitting streak including 7 hits in his last three games. His batting average is now up to .383 and if he doesn’t get a shot soon then there is something wrong with the front office. Josh Thole had another big game and has worked his batting average up to a respectable .250 after being in the low .100′s earlier in the season.
AA – Binghamton Mets
The B-Mets tied the game early in the 5th inning, but it didn’t last long as the Rock Cats answered right back in the bottom half of the inning to take a lead they would not let go of. The offense managed 7 hits off Carlos Gutierrez, but he was able to keep them in check with 13 ground ball outs. Scott Shaw struggled mightily with his command early on resulting in an early exit, however, Emary Frederick was able to come in and deliver a good relief effort.
HiA – St. Lucie Mets
Daniel Murphy had another monster rehab game going 5-for-5 with 3 RBI’s. Again he also played all 9 innings in the field at first base. The only other run came off the bat of Stefan Welch who hit a solo homerun in the second inning. The disaster of the St. Lucie rotation continued today with a 3rd inning exit by Scott Moviel who got smacked around for 7 runs (5 earned) and 6 hits. He also hurt himself with two throwing errors that resulted in the unearned runs.
LoA – Savannah Sand Gnats
Brandon Moore was pitching pretty well before Mother Nature stepped in and cut his day short. Because of a rain stoppage John Church had to come in and deliver a terrific relief performance to earn his 3rd win of the season. While the pitching was outstanding, the defense was just AWFUL. There were 3 errors one by Wilmer Flores his 10th of the season, one by Alonzo Harris also his 10th of the season, and one by Jefry Marte who is already up to 14 errors in just 30 games. Marte has good athleticism, but is just a complete butcher in the field. Kai Gronauer added in a passed ball for good measures.

AAA – Jesus Feliciano (2-4, 2b, BB, SO)
AA – Kirk Nieuwenhuis (1-4, HR, R, RBI)
HiA – Richard Lucas (2-4, HR, 3 RBI’s, R)
LoA – Kai Gronauer (3-6, R)
AAA – Buffalo Bisons
Dillon Gee continued his winning ways by improving to 5-1 on the season. He was very methodical in this outing throwing just 92 pitches in 6.2 innings and giving up just three hits. He looks like he is ready if or when the Mets ever decide to give him a shot in the rotation. Can someone please tell me why Gary Matthews Jr. is on the big league roster over Jesus Feliciano? Not only has Feliciano been more productive with the bat, but he is just as good if not better in the field. The man has more than served his time in the minors and deserves his shot.
AA – Binghamton Mets
After dominating the Florida State League, Chris Schwinden was promoted to the AA Eastern League and continued his domination. He had one blemish in his first start, a solo homerun to Erik Lis, but was otherwise outstanding earning his first AA win. Schwinden put his impeccable command on display with no walks over 6 innings. The offense didn’t need to do much as a pair of solo homeruns from Marshall Hubbard and Kirk Nieuwenhuis was all they needed.
HiA – St. Lucie Mets
Despite giving up 9 hits Robert Carson had his 4th consecutive positive outing by giving up just 2 runs and earning his 3rd win to improve his record to .500 on the season. His peripherals aren’t looking good though has he has a 21:29 K:BB, a poor K/9, and a .333 BAA. While he has had some success lately he is bound to get hit hard soon if he doesn’t start improving his command. Daniel Murphy had another good rehab game going 1-3 with a 2-out RBI and a walk. He played all nine innings in the field. The biggest blow of the game was a 2-run homerun off the bat of Richard Lucas to give the Mets a big lead to put the Tigers away.
LoA – Savannah Sand Gnats
A complete meltdown in the 9th inning by the Sand Gnats. After giving up a solo homerun Michael Powers gave up a single, ground out, and walk before shelling out the 2-out 3-run run game tying homerun to Zoilo Almonte. Later in the game Kai Gronauer allowed a pass ball that led to the game winning run scoring on a sac fly. Very little offense. The Gnats scattered 10 hits with Juan Lagares and Cesar Puello being the only players without a hit. 8 of the hits were doubles and only Nick Santomauro and Jefry Marte had extra base hits.

Great night as all four minor league teams picked up victories. Where was this Mike Jacobs when he was on the New York Mets? Jacobs cleared waivers today and went 3-6 with a home run and double in his first game. That is the same amount of extra base hits he had when he was up on the big club for the season. Jesus Feliciano, Jason Pridie, and Chris Carter all had good games and I would much rather have them than Gary Matthews Jr. on the team so why don’t the Mets just cut him already.
The Mets have created a good amount of starting pitching depth in the minors as I believe any of: Pat Misch, R.A. Dickey, or Dillon Gee could step in the 5th spot if need be.

After a horrendous 1st start that has skewed his stats, Scott Shaw has won his 3rd straight game. He is not pitching great, but just well enough in each game. Not much offense on the day. Brahiam Maldonado scored two runs, first by singling and then scoring on a Nick Evans ground out and then walking and scoring the game winning run when Kirk Nieuwenhuis grounded into a double play.

A move in the right direction for Jeurys Familia. He has been hit hard in HiA, but today he earned his first quality start of the season. I see no reason to worry about him as his stuff still looks good and there are no reports of any injuries. Outside of Rhiner Cruz the bullpen was fantastic today. After being #1 and the cold list today Richard Lucas responded with a monster game. He went 4-5 with a home run and RBI single single. Stefan Welch his great hitting with two more hits including his 2nd home run of the season.

In his 6th appearance and in his 9th inning of work John Church gave up his first run of the season. Church is having much more success out of the pen this year then last and could earn a promotion to St. Lucie soon. Unfortunately for Mark Cohoon, Brandon Sage could not hold the lead and he earned a no decision.
Pedro Zapata continued his great table setting for the Sand Gnats. All three times he got on base (2 singles and a walk) he scored a run. Jefry Marte can’t buy a hit as he is just 1-19 since returning from his injury. Jeff Flagg (2-5, RBI), Dock Doyle (2-4, RBI), and Alex Gregory (3-4) all had multi-hit games.
