The one person right now, however, I would not want to be is Omar. Omar has a lot of pressure right now. He knows the fan base desperately wants the team to make the playoffs. He also knows that the farm system that he took over was beyond terrible and has been pillaged  already by him in the Santana and Putz trades. We have a few top prospects that will be sought after, the problem is that is basically ALL we have.

34,000 FEET OVER LAKE ERIE — Does anyone fly to Milwaukee when the Mets aren’t playing there? I swear, about 75 percent of the people on this flight are Mets fans. There’s a cluster of about 15 of them sitting in front of me, all traveling together. Firefighters, from what I can tell. Big dudes. I wonder if they can swing a bat.  If they can, Jerry Manuel might just try to sneak them into the lineup Monday night at Miller Park, where the Mets will open a three-game series against the Brewers.

The at-bat was just the third of Rivera’s career and he had been 0-for-2. The walk gave him the first RBI of his 15-year career. He previously struck out and flied out. Afterward, Rodriguez said the Rivera walk was a symptom of wildness he’s suffered in his last few appearances. “It’s been the last couple of outings,” Rodriguez said. “I haven’t been able to make pitches when I needed to. I’ve been a little wild out there. I just have to find a way to figure it out quick and make sure tomorrow to watch some tape and find out what I’m doing wrong and make sure tomorrow it won’t happen again.”
