Elmer Dessens blew a beautifully pitched game in the bottom of the 9th inning thanks to a 2-out single by Colin Curtis of the Yankees.  The Bisons came back a couple innings later because of the late inning heroics of should be NY Met, Chris Carter, with a lead off homerun in the top of the 11th.

Just an outstanding offensive showing and poor pitching by both teams.  Kirk Nieuwenhuis got the BMets going early with a lead  off homerun, but the lead didn’t last long.  Scott Show was getting bombed like crazy early on and the game looked over after the 3rd inning.  Two straight innings of four runs thanks to the efforts of Nieuwenhuis, Nick Evans, Lucas Duda, and Luke Montz g0t the lead back for the Mets.  Just like the Bisons, however, the closer melted down as Roy Merritt gave up 2 runs (one run charged to Jose De La Torre who gave up a single before being replaced) on 3 singles.

Another slugfest that included half the Mets hits going for extra bases.  The biggest blow came off the bat off Jon Luc Blaquiere with a 3-run homerun in the 2nd inning.  Scott Moviel had a shaky first start blowing the four run lead, but the Mets answered right back with 6 runs in the bottom of the inning and never looked back.  The bullpen held up pretty well for the most part and secured the victory.  Watch out for Josh Satin.  He is an older prospect, but he has some talent and is off to a good start so far.

Maybe Mark Cohoon was responding to my message that I liked him better as a reliever than a starter, but nonetheless he was very effective.  I still want to see his peripherals improve, but giving up no runs is good no matter how you look at it.  I am still going to say Brandon Moore should be in the rotation, but I am not the manager (at least not yet) so I can’t make that decision.   The 21-year-old “veteran” Juan Lagares is having a hot start with his POC Wilmer Flores to help the Sand Gnats get off to a 3-0 start.

Rough start for Brad Holt who gave up 9 hits and 4 home runs.  Even though he walked none reports were that his command wasn’t great and he did have a high pitch count.  Good night for the offense with Emmanuel Garcia, Ike Davis, Josh Thole, and Jose Coronado had multi hit games.  Lucas Duda hit his 7th homerun and if he  squeeze in 6 more before the end of the season he could go from terrible power to slightly below average and raise his prospect status.

Decently encouraging stuff from Scott Moviel as he gave up only 4 hits and was able to keep the ball on the ground getting 6 groundball outs.  Reese Havens continues to hit since his return from the DL and if he gets his averagte up to .275ish with the power he is showing he becomes a B prospect.  A nice note is that Josh Stinson got all his outs via the K.
