Jon Niese continued to pitch like a beast with a complete game 7inning shutout. I am hoping to watch the video for this game maybe tomorrow to get a look on how Niese is looking to go along with the amazing stats he has been posting.
Game 2
Two complete game shutouts. Talk about a rarity.

This is why I voted for Brad Holt over Mejia in the side poll. The dude is just dominant. His K totals have been and outside of 3-4 starts in his short career he has been nearly unhittable. Lucas Duda now has 2 homeruns and 5 RBI’s in the last two games. Ike Davis hit his 11th homerun of the season and 4th since joining the B-Mets.

I am not going to start worrying about Scott Moviel he is still coming back from an injury and this is a decent start I won’t really worry too much until next season. That will be the key year for him as a prospect. KIrk Nieuwenhuis has really got to lower his average this .240 is not going to cut it for me.

I love Eric Beaulac‘s dominance, but he has to learn to pitch deeper into ballgames. I am not going to take anything away from his 1 hit, 7 strikeout performance, but the one thing he hasn’t done is pitch deep. The teen sensations both had multi hit games with Jefry Marte getting a double. A bit of a beanfest with 4 hit batters in the game (2 by Beaulac)

Nice job by 2009 draft pic Sam Honeck to go 3-5 with 3 RBI’s. He is one of the only hitters selected who has actually hit since joining the Metsies. John Servidio smacked the ball around hitting 2 bombs and even getting hit by a pitch. To go along with that he also drove in 3 runs.

Eric Beaulac is still being forced to start because of an Elvin Ramirez injury, but boy does he look good. Only went 5 innings due to a high pitch count, but was able to strike out 9 batters and record another 3 outs via the groundball leaving only 2 flyball outs. Really good splits all around including only 2 walks.

Zach Van Tersch was god on awful, which is not a good sign and it doesn’t appear as if he is going to regain the stuff he had in his sophmore year. Fellow 2009 draft pick Brian Needham was great in relief going 4.2 scoreless striking out 3 batters. Jeff Flagg will probably be promoted to Brooklyn soon as the Wilpon’s will want to get some bats up there for their baby.

Just an awful night for the B-Mets pitching staff just had a simply awful night. It started out with Brad Holt who gave up 4 runs in 3.1 innings (did strike out 6 though) and gave up 1 homerun on a fastball and got even worse when the bullpen gave up 8 runs in 5.2 innings with Stephen Clyne having the worst performance.
Shawn Bowman had a great game after slumping for a while going 4-4 with a double. Caleb Stewart drove in the only run with his 2nd homerun of the season. Ike Davis’s average dropped to .257 after going 1-2 in his last 3 games (5k’s, 0 walks). Jose Coronado had a multi hit game going 2-5 with a double.

The first 2-run homerun came of the bat of Zach Lutz and the second one was from Francisco Pena. Eric Beaulac was back to starting depsite asking to become a permanent reliever and by the stats you can see why. The dude is dominant. Gave up 2 runs early, but settled down and struck out 9 over 6 innings of work. To see what he was throwing visit Mike Newman’s twitter. Rhinor Cruz got into some serious trouble into the 9th leaving with runners on 1st and 2nd leaving it up to Phillips Orta to come on and bail him out.
Half the offense came off the bat of Raul Reyes who drove in the game winning runs in the 5th inning with a 2-run homerun. Wilmer Flores had 3 more hits and is now batting .400 over his last 10 games and is batting .283 on the season. Josh Satin (2-4) is due for a promotion soon.

MARK COHOON!! Talk about a game. Dude could not be stopped giving up 3 hits and NO WALKS while striking out EIGHT over 8 innings. Now has 19ks in 20 innings while only giving up 10 hits over 3 games that he has won all of. Think of a Scott Shaw type pitcher when you think of Cohoon. He also had 12 groundball outs to only 3 flyball outs. VERY VERY IMPRESSIVE.
With the magnificent pitching the Cyclones didn’t need much offense, but was able to muster out 5 runs. Three of the runs came from a Luis Rivera homerun in the 6th. Alex Gregory (0-4) and Juan Centeno (0-3) took 0′fers and Sam Honeck went 1-4.

Darrell Ceciliani drove in his first professional RBI and stole his first professional base. Cesar Puello is up over .300 now (3.10) with another 2 hit game. Jeff Flagg had a monster game going 3-5 with a double, 2RBIs, and a stolen base.
The pitching was all 2009 draft class members with Zach Von Tersh leading they way with a good 4 inningso of 1 hit ball and 5ks. Brian Needham picked up the win despite being uneffective giving up 3 runs of 4 innings and Tom Chism capped of the game with a scoreless inning.
