Song of the Day: AC/DC – If You Want Blood (You’ve Got It)

It’s criminal
there ought to be a law
criminal
there ought to be a whole lot more
you get a nothin’ for nothin’
tell me who can you trust
we got what ya want
and you got the lust

Refrain:
If you want blood (YOU GOT IT)
If you want blood (YOU GOT IT)
BLOOD on the streets
BLOOD on the rocks
BLOOD in the gutter, EVERY LAST DROP, YOU WANT BLOOD
you got it
yes you have

It’s animal
livin’ in a human zoo
animal
the shit that they toss to you
feelin’ like a Christian
locked in a cage
thrown to the lions
on a seconds rage

Refrain

O Positive

Blood on the rocks
Blood on the streets
Blood in the sky
Blood on the sheets

If you want blood
you got it

Want you to bleed for me

If you want blood, you got it x15

AAA – Buffalo Bisons

AA – Binghamton Mets

Jenrry Mejia left the game in the 2nd inning with right shoulder stiffness after facing just two batters in the 2nd inning and throwing 44 pitches.  This could turn out to be a blessing in disguise if it turns to the Mariners off from asking for Mejia in any trade talks and letting them settle for Fernando Martinez+.  What has been impressive about Sean Ratliff since being promoted is that he has hit 3 of his 4 home runs off lefties including the one today.  He still needs to improve on his plate discipline though.  Chris Schwinden deserves a pat on the back for coming in earlier then expected and not only keeping his team in the game, but also picking up the win.

HiA – St. Lucie Mets

It only took until his last start in June, but Jeurys Familia finally got his first win of the season!  Take a quick look at how bad Richard Lucas’ season has been after being a ‘sleeper’ before the season .208/.286/.346 with a 19:78 K:BB ratio!! That is some of the worst plate discipline of anyone in the whole minor league system not to mention he has just 14 extra base hits all season.  Wilmer Flores has been trying to break out of his slump lately with 2 hits yesterday and 4 more today and hey he made no errors today!  The offense on a whole was just locked in today.

LoA – Savannah Sand Gnats

Game suspended in 3rd inning

SSA – Brooklyn Cyclones

I like the power and patience Cory Vaughn is showing at the plate.  If he can start getting some more hits he will have a really solid first season.  Think about it this way he already has 2 more home runs in Brooklyn than Ike Davis ever hit.  Darrell Ceciliani continues to put up great numbers and showing good pop for a younger guy in the league.

RK – Kingsport Mets

Nothing to speak of here everyone sucked.

GCL – Jeff Glenn (2-for-, 2B, K, caught 2 attempted stealers)

AAA – Buffalo Bisons

Recently demoted Raul Valdes got the start of Dylan Owen and pitched fairly well.  He only lasted 4 innings, but struck out 7 and only made one mistake, a home run to Stefan Gartell.  Owen still pitched in the game by piggy backing Valdes and got hit hard yet again giving up 3 hits, all doubles and 2 runs.  he pitching only gave up 3 runs, but the Bisons still got the L as the offense did absolutely nothing getting just one runner into scoring position and 8 base runners on all game.

AA – Binghamton Mets

Nerves got the best of Mark Cohoon in the first inning of his first Double-A start.  He was downright awful in the inning throwing a wild pitch and giving up 4 straight hits with two outs to allow 3 runs to score.  He settled down after that and was almost flawless from the second to fifth innings facing just one batter over the minimum.  Things got heated again in the sixth when he loaded the bases on 3 straight singles.  It appeared he would get out of the inning when he struck out the next batter, but yet another 2-out hit allowed two runs to score before Roy Merritt came in to bail him out.  Luckily for Cohoon the offense was cooking tonight allowing him to pick up the victory.  The number nine hitter, Raul Reyes had the best night of his career getting 3 hits and 2 home runs after hitting just 3 home runs all year in St. Lucie.  Nick Evans couldn’t be stopped today with 4 extra base hits (3 doubles and a home run) and 2 RBI’s.

HiA – St. Lucie Mets

Shocker. After making 3 errors in last night’s ball game Wilmer Flores responded by committing yet another today.  Flores was playing a fairly decent shortstop in Savannah with positive reports from Mike Newman about better D so I’ll cut him some slack that he just needs time to adjust to his new team.  Brandon Moore did fairly well in his first HiA start, but nothing spectacular.  Carlos Beltran played 7 innings tonight, making 2 putouts and continuing to feast on the young pitching with 3 more hits and 2 RBI’s.

LoA – Savannah Sand Gnats

Collin McHugh was cruising along through 5 innings giving up a hit in 4 of the 5 innings, but never letting the base runner get further then second base.  He was doing pretty well in the sixth inning allowing a run to score on a sac fly and it appeared he was going to strand a runner at second base when he got the batter to pop up to first baseman Alex Gregory.  Gregory missed the catch allowing the runners to reach safely.  The next batter singled on a bloop to center field and then the blast came for a 3-run homer before McHugh struck out the last batter.  The offense did nothing tonight but that is understandable with two guys batting in the .100′s in the lineup.

SSA – Brooklyn Cyclones

A 7th inning play would come back to bite the Cyclones in the butt.  Only up by a run with a runner on first and two outs Cody Holliday hit a double into the gap, the third base coach sent Rylan Sandoval home, but on a perfectly executed relay throw Sandoval was thrown out to end the inning not giving the Cyclones best hitter, Darrell Ceciliani a chance to drive him in.  Then in the eighth Ryan Fraser came in with no outs and a runner on first to only walk the bases loaded.  He allowed one run to score on a sac fly with one out and then gave up a two out single to allow the winning run to score.  Two out RBI’s seem to be the theme tonight.

RK – Kingsport Mets

Jacob deGrom was a pitcher I was excited about so it is kind of upsetting to see him get shelled like this in his first start.  All but one hitter had a hit tonight, but none had more than 1 hit.

Mets Farm Report: June 25th, 2010

Stars of the Night:
AAA – Russ Adams (2-for-3, HR, 2B, RBI, R, BB)
AA – Mike Nickeas (3-for-4, HR, 2B, 2 RBI, R)
HiA – Kai Gronauer (2-for-4, HR, 2 RBI, R)

RK – Aderlin Rodriguez (2-for-4, HR, 2 R, RBI, 2 BB)
GCL – Camden Maron (2-for-3, R, BB)

AAA – Buffalo Bisons

AA – Binghamton Mets

Michael Antonini didn’t pitch great, but he pitched well enough to beat top pitching prospect and former teammate of Mets top draft pick Matt Harvey, Alex White, of the Indians.  Mike Nickeas provided the majority of the offense off White taking him deep for his first home run of the year and hitting a double into the gap.  I think Emary Freederick should get a shot in the Bisons’s bullpen.

HiA – St. Lucie Mets

That’s right 10 runs given up and yet no pitcher’s ERA really gets too inflated and they can thank Wilmer Flores and his 3 errors for that.  2 errors in the second inning ended up getting 4 of the unearned runs for Eric Beaulac and the other error came in the 7th.  How you make 3 errors in one game I do not know.  Carlos Beltran had a nice rehab game getting on base 3 times including a double.

LoA – Savannah Sand Gnats

Thanks to all the transactions Nick Santomauro now has a full time position in left field and is batting clean up despite his terrible offensive season, but he responded to the promotion with 2 doubles.  Cesar Puello who also now gets to take over a much bigger role on the team had a huge night getting on base 4 times with 2 doubles and 2 RBIs and also contributing on defense with an outfield assist.

SSA – Brooklyn Cyclones

RK – Kingsport Mets

Brett Mitchell is a 2010 draft pick that you are going to want to watch f0r and he had a GREAT game today.
