Every time we lie awake
After every hit we take
Every feeling that I get
But I haven’t missed you yet

Every roommate kept awake
By every sigh and scream we make
All the feelings that I get
But I still don’t miss you yet

Only when I stop to think about it

I hate everything about you
Why do I love you
I hate everything about you
Why do I love you

Every time we lie awake
After every hit we take
Every feeling that I get
But I haven’t missed you yet

Only when I stop to think about it

I hate everything about you
Why do I love you
I hate everything about you
Why do I love you

Only when I stop to think
About you, I know
Only when you stop to think
About me, do you know

I hate everything about you
Why do I love you
You hate everything about me
Why do you love me

I hate
You hate
I hate
You love me

I hate everything about you
Why do I love you

Stars of the Night:
AAA – Lucas Duda (1-for-3, HR, RBI, R, BB)
AA – Raul Reyes (2-for-4, HR, 5 RBI, R, K)
HiA – Jordany Valdespin (3-for-5, 2 RBI, R)
LoA – Alonzo Harris (2-for-4, HR, 3 RBI, 2 R)
SSA – Cory Vaughn (2-for-3, HR, 2 RBI, 2 R, BB)
RK – Javier Rodrgiuez (3-for-5, 2B, R, K, outfield assist)
GCL – OFF

AAA – Buffalo Bisons

Dilllon Gee pitched a stellar game today it is to bad he couldn’t have pitched this well all season because then we could have tried to swing him in a Lee trade. Boy has Lucas Duda been raking since being promoted to AAA.

AA – Binghamton Mets

The same old story continued today with Eric Niesen.  He got decent results, but continued to struggle with his command.  If he doesn’t start attacking hitters soon with his plus stuff then he is never going to be able to make it further in his development and become a starter in the bigs.  Emary Frederick did a great job coming in and stranding two of Eddie Kunz’s inherited runners.  In the third inning the BMets got a coupe of bloops followed by a walk which allowed Raul Reyes to come up and strike again, this time with a grand salami.  This is the second straight game Sean Ratliff has taken a walk with no strikeouts.

HiA – St. Lucie Mets

Mets pitching gave up 3 runs on just 6 hits thanks to an incredible 8 walks! They did strike out 7 batters, but just wow 8 walks.  It was a bitter sweet start for Brad Holt who only gave up 1 run and 2 hits while striking out 5 in 5 inning, however, is control was still an issue also delivering 5 walks.  Something tells me the success was more due to the level of competition than Holt actually getting things straightened out.  Nothing looked noticeably different in the videos from last year to this year so it is really odd how big of a 180 he has undergone.  It is amazing that the offense had 15 hits yet just 1 went for extra bases (double from Richard Lucas).  Wilmer Flores was at it again today with 3 more hits and now has 13 hits in just 6 games for St. Lucie.  Because it was a day game Carlos Beltran DHed and picked up a hit now reaching base in every rehab game so far.  He will play center field tomorrow.

LoA – Savannah Sand Gnats

John Church was reportedly hitting 93-94 mph tonight on the gun which would be a tick above previous velocity reports.  Church had put up good numbers the last couple of years so if the velocity sticks he could make some noise as a legitimate prospect.  Nick Santomauro continued the climb back up to .200 with another hit today.  You know you are in the low minors when a game has 7 errors in it.  Alonzo Harris had the biggest blow of the night hitting a 3-run jack in the sixth inning.

SSA – Brooklyn Cyclones

How can you not love what Cory Vaughn is doing right now?  He now has 3 home runs in his last 3 games and has hit 4 more home runs in Brooklyn than Ike Davis.  Not only that, but his biggest flaw was supposed to be plate discipline and he is currently rocking a 7:5 K:BB. It is a small sample size, but a very encouraging one.

RK – Kingsport Mets

I still think it was a terrible draft pick, but hey at least Javier Rodriguez is actually doing something now.

With all the Cliff Lee rumors swirling around all the baseball “experts” make it sound like the Twins can just have Lee if they wanted by offering a package centered around catching prospect Wilson Ramos.  Yet for the Mets they HAVE to include Jenrry Mejia because Fernando Martinez is not a strong enough centerpiece for a deal.  Now I fully understand why everyone would want Mejia to be the centerpiece of the deal, but I can not fathom why it is people feel Ramos is strong enough to be the main piece and Martinez is not.

I think if you just take a look at their stats it is pretty obvious that not only is Martinez worthy of being the main part of a deal like Ramos he is also a better prospect than Ramos.

So despite playing at a higher level and putting up stats that are equal or if not better than Ramos at a younger age has some how turned Martinez into a worse prospect than Ramos.  Not only that, but one of the biggest knocks on Martinez is that he has spent so much time in the minor leagues without being able to crack into the majors, but Ramos has been down on the farm even longer. It is also not like Ramos has been injury free throughout his minor league career spending time on the DL in 2008 and 2009.

Take a look at prospect guru John Sickels’ rankings of the two prospects over the last couple of years.

2010 – 4) Wilson Ramos, C, Grade B-: Power and defense are positives, main question is weak walk rate.
2009 – 3) Wilson Ramos, C, Grade B: Good glove, strong bat.
2008 – Not ranked

2010 – 3) Fernando Martinez, OF, Grade B+: People are now too negative on him. The guy was the equivalent of a college sophomore last year. If a college sophomore got drafted and hit .290/.337/.540 in Triple-A, people would be drooling over him. He’s made significant progress refining his tools. My main concern now is health and durability, which keeps him from ranking higher.
20092) Fernando Martinez, OF, Grade B+: Still extremely young, though at some point he’s got to produce better than he has. You can flip him with Flores if you prefer the guy closer to the majors.
2008 - 1) Fernando Martinez, OF, Grade B+:.292/.332/.420 for Double-A Binghamton. Production improving, plate discipline still an issue, still very young.

It is also important to keep in mind that Sickels is a Twins fan so there is reason to believe he is sometimes a bit biased towards their prospects, as he should be, and yet Martinez has always been ranked higher and going into the year he actually agreed with me that F-Mart is taking unnecessary criticism.

Wilson Ramos was impressive during his brief stint in the majors early this year and he play a plus defense, but ever since going down to the minors he has been awful.  I think Ramos is a great prospect and worthy of being included in a deal for Lee, but so should the “Teenage Hitting Machine”.  Not to mention if the Mariners really want a closer Josh Thole is a pretty decent player who while he may not have the power or defense of Ramos hits for a higher average and has way better plate discipline.  A deal of Fernando Martinez/Josh Thole/2 more prospects probably Kyle Allen and someone or F-Mart/Reese Havens/and a pitching prospect should be enough to get a deal done for lee.  Any more than that and I would be a little upset with what the Mets traded.

I hate college but love all the parties
Finishing kegs and crushing bottles of Bacardi
King of the class id rather lay up with a hottie
Single doesnt mean Im lookin for somebody
Some say the drink lights up but hardly
Poppin PK skeet a lil bit on Molly
Am I out my mind most people say probably
But Ive been on my grind puffin ounce of that collie

Pack my bag no parents didnt drop me off
I fell off saw some herbs all wearing Lacoste
A couple dudes in pennies must of played lacrosse
Grabbed my duffle and a hustled through the dormitory doors
Of course my homie lived on the same floor
So when I blow trees get down to pound doors
Down to pound hoes
The outta town roles
Flow develop to the own tone of his voice
I hate college but love getting laid
Social life swagger at night when the sun fades
Check my sunshades
Talkin bout upgrades
I cant see the haters no more I feel great
My eyes twenty twenty so sunny when skies grey
Im loved by the honeys what more can I say
Im just getting paid
Working like a slave
Between school athletics and music its all day
So invite your friends to come play
Give you the invite if you miss it dont complain
If you lucky get a kiss
For miss no thats lame
Wanna get it in with Wizzy Im your man
Sweatin bullets no fan can contain
Short to pull up but quick to amaze
Im lookin forward to tours on these planes
Seein the coke poppin no bottles of champagne
Dear lord taking your name in vain
All these sins in college that Ive made
Well, well my games off the chain
I last a couple hours tomorrow go insane

I hate college but love all the parties
Finishing kegs and crushing bottles of Bacardi
King of the class id rather lay up with a hottie
Single doesnt mean Im lookin for somebody
Some say the drink lights up but hardly
Poppin PK skeet a lil bit on Molly

Poppin PK skeet a lil bit on Molly
Am I out my mind most people say probably
But Ive been on my grind puffin ounce of that collie

I cant sleep cause my good damn teach
Keeps assignin essays due at the end of each week
But little do they know I got a show by the beach
Watchin girls flash Wizzy way more then they teeth
They mad, Id rather learn flows than they lesson plans
But sit me down askin do you get the message sayin
This is your life came to school to get right
Nah, music is my sun and youre blocking my light
If I dont blow get hotter, ignite
My life full of lines till my money gets nice
But moneys not happiness youll only get greedier
**** it would make life a whole lot easier
And my feel gets a whole lot cheesier
Dominos bread push steak getting meatier
But schools good for one thing I must add
And thats havin a plethora of my vocab
Whole bag of words that I must grab
And throw down like a rich girls bar tab

I hate college but love all the parties
Finishing kegs and crushing bottles of Bacardi
King of the class id rather lay up with a hottie
Single doesnt mean Im lookin for somebody

Stars of the Night:
AAA – Lucas Duda (2-for-4, HR, 4 RBI, R, BB)
AA – Sean Ratliff (1-for-3, HR, 3 RBI, 2 R, BB)
HiA – Hector Pellot (1-for-4, HR, 5 RBI, R)
LoA – Wilfredo Tovar (3-for-3)/Alex Gregory (1-for-2)
SSA – Cory Vaughn (2-for-4, 3B, HR, 3 RBI, R)
RK – PPD
GCL – Jeff Glenn (1-for-3, HR, RBI, R, BB, K)

AAA – Buffalo Bisons

AA – Binghamton Mets

Josh Stinson had his first bad start since moving into the rotation today.  He just gave up way to many hits and left the game with a 4- run deficit, but luckily for him the offense had an outburst in the ninth inning to save him.  The BMets entered the ninth down by 5 runs, however, thanks to the heroics of Luis Hernandez they were able win the game in the inning.  Hernandez led the inning of with a walk and leadoff walks ALWAYS come back to haunt you.  Another runner reached base with one out and then Sean Ratliff stepped to the plate and cracked a 3-run homer.  After the next two batters reached it appears their comeback was going to fall short when Josh Satin struck out.  Everyone put on their rally caps with two outs and the next two guys got on base and the man who started everything, Luis Hernandez, came up with two outs and men on first and second and delivered with a walk off double to win the game.

HiA – St. Lucie Mets

Robert Carson, who has been pretty much the lone non disappointment in the St. Lucie rotation had a good start today caring a shutout all the way into the eighth inning.  He gave up 4 runs in the inning, but 2 of the runs were inherited runners Erik Turgeon let score with two outs so Carson really should be to blame as Turgeon has to be able to do a better job at getting 1 out. The biggest blow of the night; a 2-out grand slam off the bat of nine hole hitter Hector PellotWilmer Flores had another three hits, but has yet to get an extra base hit (10 singles).  Carlos Beltran went 1-for-5 and played 9 innings in the field.

LoA – Savannah Sand Gnats

The Sand Gnats will probably make the playoffs, but they are going to get an early exit because after making all those moves they just have absolutely no offense left and pitchers are going to have to be perfect if they want to win.  Nothing else to say it is that bad.

SSA – Brooklyn Cyclones

After seeing those depressing Sand Gnats box scores seeing games like this from Darrell Ceciliani and Cory Vaughn helps a lot.  Now make that 3 more home runs Vaughn has hit as a Cyclone than Ike Davis. Will Cherry is currently rocking the golden sombrero.

RK – Kingsport Mets

GCL – GCL Mets
