Phillies Acquire Halliday; Lackey a Sawk

There was a crazy three team deal between the Phillies, Mariners, and Blue Jays involving two Cy Young winners and a bunch of prospects. As of right now the deal shapes up as:

Phillies Get:
Roy Halladay (TOR)
Tyson Gillies (SEA)
Phillipe Aumont (SEA)
Juan Ramirez (SEA)

Mariners Get:
Cliff Lee (PHI)

Blue Jays Get:
Kyle Drabek (PHI)
Michael Taylor (PHI)
Travis D’Arnaud (PHI)

There were some rumbilings of J.A. Happ and Joe Blanton having to take physicals so who knows what else is going on, but this deal is a monster deal.  I think this deal is pretty good for all teams and seeing that the Phillies will only have to sign Doc to a 3-year extension makes it that much better for them.  Mariners are really making a statement this off-season and hopefully they don’t steal Jason Bay.

To make matters worse for Mets fans is that John Lackey signed a 5 year $85 million dollar contract with the Red Sox.  That amount of money is absolutely insane and I’m glad the Mets didn’t bite on that offer.  The price for Lackey was to steep for the Mets to even consider, but reports are now that they are interested in Chien-Ming Wang, something I proposed earlier.  I am not going to panic because if the Mets can walk away with Wang, Bay, Bengie Molina, and say maybe Erik Bedard I would be really happy.
