W: Egbert (5-2, 4.10); L: Knight (4-6, 4.89); SV: Link (8)
HR: CHA: Allen (1).

Brandon Knight had a rough night finding the plate walking 5 batters in just 4 innings of work.  He also gave up 8 hits for 7 earned runs.  A real killer of an outing.  The combo of Adam Bostick and Eddie Kunz had a great game and gave the Bisons a chance in this game.  Even though they were down 6 after 4 the four shoutout innings from those kept the game “in reach” with the Bisons falling just one run short.

The offense did a great job driving the ball to the gaps getting 4 doubles, two by Jose Castillo.  In a weird day where he took at-bats for two different teams Fernando Martinez went 1-4 with a single.  Emil Brown, Cory Sullivan, and Mike Lamb all got two hits for the Bisons.

W: Hall, J (8-4, 4.30); L: Perez, O (0-1, 6.00)
HR: CHA: Wrigley (2). STL: Maldonado, B (7).

OUCH Bad Ollie strikes again.  Oliver Perez was hit pretty hard giving up 7 hits and 6 runs (2 earned) in just three innings of work and was taken deep by the 22-year-old Henry Wrigley who is batting .205 this year and now with 2 homeruns.  The only good news was that he only walked one batter.   The unearned runs were due to a Hector Pellot throwing error in the 3rd.  John Maine faired better giving up only 1 run over, but the control issues are a little concerning.  3 walks to 1 K is never good no matter what level you are on, but he is going to have to sharpen his command before he comes back to the big leagues.

Not much interesting offensively from the Mets offense in either game.  In the second game Brahiam Maldonado went deep for his 7th shot of the year.  Pellot hit for a triple in the first game and then a double in the second game getting himself 2 extrabase hits and Richard Pena was 2-3 in game 2.

SSA – Brooklyn Cyclones

W: Colome (1-0, 0.00); L: Cuan (0-1, 5.40); SV: De Los Santos, R (2)
HR: None.

The Cyclones picked up the first loss of the short season, but the story of the night was the small lefry from Panama, Angel Cuan, making his debut in the States tonight  The young lefty lasted 5 innings and got hit around pretty well giving up 8 hits and 3 runs.  His control was still good walking just 1.  What intrigues me more is that he was able to keep the ball on the ground recording 8 groundouts to 2 flyball outs.  He is not quite Jenrry Mejia, but I can see him having a great season and rising up prospect charts.

The offense was generated from 11th round pick Sam Honeck who went 3-4 with an RBI. He hasn’t showed the power yet, but the 4 hits in 9 at-bats looks pretty good.  17th round pick and hitting maniac Alex Gregory picked up a hit as well as 20th round pick Joey August in hist first game with the Clones.
