The Bisons are on a 3-game winning streak thanks to the likes of Tobi Stoner, Argenis Reyes, and Willy Mo Pena. Tobi Stoner had a “Tobi Stoner” type start. He threw 92 pitches over 6 innings giving up 9 hits and 3 runs, while walking 1 and striking out 3. He pitced well enough to get the W and Kyle Snyder and Connor Robertson combined for 3 scoreless innings.
Argenis Reyes led the offense with a 3-5 game hitting 2 doubles, scoring 2 runs, driving in a run, and stealing a base. Willy Mo Pena did what he does best hitting a bomb for a solo homerun before being removed for defensive purposes. Emil Brown contributed a two-run homerun and Jose Castillo, Cory Sullivan, and Jesus Feliciano all had multi hit games.

The B-Mets got absolutely scortched by the Trenton Thunder. Eric Niesen had his second terrible Eastern League start. He only lasted 4 innings giving up 7 runs, 6 earned on 9 hits (1 homerun) and 3 walks. I guess on the bright side (if there is one) he struck out 4 which would be a K/9 of 9.00. Julio De La Cruz was just as bad in relief giving up 5 more runs in only 2 innings of work. He walked 3 in those 2 innings and struck out 0. He is pitching his way into a release.
The offense was held scoreless until the 9th inning when back-to-back singles from Emmanuel Garcia and Jose Coronado, two wild pitches in a row, and a Josh Thole sacrifice fly led to 2 runs. Those were the only two runs they were able to score, despite getting 11 hits because of a terrible 1-11 with RISP. Thole got on base 3 times with 2 singles and a walk, Ruben Tejada went 2-4 with 2 singles, and Lucas Duda and Garcia each went 2-5 (2 singles).

Kyle Allen had another good start and has been on fire as of late. In his last ten games he is 5-1 with a 2.66 pitching 47.1 innings and maintiaing a BB:K ratio of 19:45. Tonight he went 6 strong giving up 2 runs, striking out 5 and getting 9 outs on the ground. Philips Orta had a rought first outing this year with his inning of work including 2 walks, a balk, and a run. He did strike out two, however, showing both his bad control and great stuff in his work.
Today’s offensive outburst accounted for 10 runs and 13 hits with every starter except Stefan Welch(0-4) getting a hit. Sean Ratliff has the best game going 3-4 with a homerun, 4 RBI’s, and 2 runs. Raul Reyes(2) and Kai Gronauer(3) each added homeruns of their own. Wilmer Flores had another good game going 2-5 with a double and 2 runs raising his average up to .265.

The Brooklyn Cylones won their season opener against rival Staten Island Yankees on the back of a good start from 2008 18th round pick Collin McHugh. McHugh pitched 5 innings and struck out 5 men, while only giving up 2 runs. Matias Carrillo Jr. pitched just as well in relief with 3 scoreless innings fanning 3 Yankees.
The Cyclones have got to Yankees top prospect Arodys Vizciano for 4 runs (1 earned), however, they did strike out 7 times. The Cyclones scoring got started in the 3rd when an error on a Seth Williams groundball got the gates going and were capped off when Nick Giarraputo singled in Matt Bouchard for the 3rd run of the inning. John Servidio went deep for the Cyclones first longball of the year and Juan Centeno(2008 31st round pick) had a monster game going 3-4 with a triple and 2 RBI’s. 11th round pick Sam Honeck was 0-3 with a walk.
